"Reality is a funny thing, you know... Reality is what you believe; believe
it to be. It's what you put your thought and energy into, because your hands
physically manifest thought. So your world becomes what you feel and what
you think."
"You have to realize: ok, I don't know how to solve a political problem, I
don't know how to solve the pollution problem... all I know is in my own life,
I need to figure out some sense of purpose, I need to figure out how to
be happy... and I'm willing to give up looking at all you and trying to do
everyone else's laundry and look at myself and what do I need... and that's
profound. We point so many fingers and go 'this person isn't... are you
blah blah blah?" If we all just took care of ourselves it'd be very
efficient... all I can do ultimately in my own life... all I can speak
is from my experience."

As mentioned earlier, the new single is 'You Were Meant For Me.' Jewel finished two new versions. The first is the original master with new vocals and shortened slightly. The second version has Flea on bass, a drum track, is a bit faster, and has more of a groove feel.
Jewel appeared on Live with Regis & Kathy Lee August 9th. Taped the previous week, she performed "Who Will Save Your Soul," and "You Were Meant For Me," which was abruptly cut and edited into a commercial for a NY hotel.
A couple special shows took place on July 18-19 in Bearsville, NY. One show was strictly for fans on her Internet Mailing List, the other a benefit show for the local theatre.
On The Cover: Atlantic's Jewel turns into cubic zirconium after celebrating the success of her hit album, "Pieces of You," with this HITS cover gem (Issue 502, July 22, 1996). "I love this week's cover girl Jewel, and hope she makes a better second album."
